Carmack Says Market For Rage Primarily Consoles 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 5 comments
Computer and Video Games has posted an overview of a recent Game Informer magazine article featuring id Software's upcoming Rage. John Carmack is quoted as saying the largest market for the post apocalyptic racing shooter will be consoles, making a design focus on using controllers a necessity. The article also revealed information about the game's story and features. According to Game Informer the shooter kicks off when the player, a lucky survivor of a devastating asteroid strike, wakes from suspended animation inside an 'ark' deep underground. You wake to find the crew dead and databanks ruined, then stumble surface side to discover a bandit and mutant-filled wasteland living in fear of a mysterious group called 'The Authority'. Expectedly, you're out to investigate exactly who and what this group is about - and stop them. As previously suggested Rage is a very car racing and weapon building-heavy shooter, with most of id's focus being lent to the console versions. "The largest chunk of our market's going to be on consoles," John Carmack told the mag, revealing that its controls will be designed around controllers. "I mean, yes, you can use the mouse for it but it's critical that the controller be the way that we design the game." To read more click over to the link below.
